Pierre Guariche was born in 1926 in France. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts and he graduated in 1949. Then, he worked in the Marcel Gascoin workshop and presented his first models during shows dedicated to Home Economics and Decorative Artists. In 1953, he designed for Steiner the legendary Tonneau chair in plastic then he used plywood for this model in 1954. He founded with Joseph-André Motte and Michel Mortier the ARP (Plastics Research Workshop) in 1954. In 1957, he became the Artistic Director of the Meurop furniture manufacturer. Then, he shared his knowledge to students of the School of Architecture in Tournai and to the School of Decorative Arts in Paris.
